TEAM TENACIOUS: VATRUNNERS
Background
Who They Are
On May 30, 2009, after nearly 10 months of preparation, the VAT Logistics team of 30 colleagues (otherwise known as the VATRUNNERS) joined with 272 other teams to begin the 530 kilometer non-stop Roparun relay race to raise money for cancer patients.
What They Do
The race began in Paris, France and wound its way to Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After 43 hours of blood, sweat and tears, the VATRUNNERS crossed the finish line for a very tenacious cause. The money raised by Roparun 2009 will be spent on improving the quality of life for cancer patients in The Netherlands, Belgium and France.
Why They Do It
The team feels this is a great way to raise money for and bring attention to an important cause. The relay race is covered by television and radio stations in France, Belgium and Holland.
How Did They Get Started
Ruud Vat, Vat Logistics director, participated in his first Roparun race several years ago. After his colleagues learned about the race and the cause, they joined him for a successful Roparun 2009 race, and they are looking forward to Roparun 2010 this summer.
How Ergodyne Sponsorship Helps
Ergodyne donations helped keep runners safe on their journey. “Ergodyne CORE Performance Work Wear ™ Base and Mid Layers and GloWear® Hi-Vis Apparel ensured our runners and bikers stayed dry and visible on the road in France and Belgium,” said Willem Hakkert, Vat Logistics. “The Chill-Its® Bandanas caught every drop of sweat and the Chill-Its® Cooling Towels were effective for cooling down after the run shifts.”
