NEWS&EVENTS ERGODYNE INTRODUCES DORSAL IMPACT-REDUCING GLOVE

Ergodyne Adds Dorsal Impact-Reducing Glove to ProFlex® Line

ST. PAUL, Minn. (September 15, 2009) –Ergodyne today announced the introduction of  the ProFlex® 925F(x) Dorsal Impact-Reducing Trades Glove to its ProFlex hand protection line.

The unique combination of impact protection, durability, abrasion resistance and grip make the glove unlike any dorsal impact protection alternative on the market today.

More than three years of development and field-testing in extraordinarily difficult work environments resulted in a glove that is truly exceptional.

"For 23 years, Ergodyne has been an innovator in specialty hand impact protection for workers with our patented ProFlex® Vibration Reducing, Impact, Trades, Handler, Temp, and Fire and Rescue glove series," said Tom Votel, president and CEO of Ergodyne. "The 925F(x) brings the same hi-tech protection to the dorsal side of the hand for extreme applications. The fact that it looks bad-ass doesn't hurt either."

Specially designed TPR armor and 5 millimeter EVA foam padding give significant protection to vulnerable areas of the hand while armor "flex zones" maintain dexterity. Generous Kevlar and PVC zones on the palm and fingers - combined with reinforced Kevlar stitiching - maximize protection, toughness and grip security.

KEY FEATURES

  • Molded TPR armor on knuckles, fingers and carpal bone for impact protection, pinch injury prevention and blow deflection
  • Armor "flex zones" for high dexterity
  • 5mm EVA dorsal padding for metacarpal protection
  • 5mm EVA palm and ulnar padding for protection against "chopping" blows
  • Abrasion-resistant PVC on palm and three fingers to limit liquid penetration
  • Non-slip Armortex® reinforcement zones on thumb saddle and index finger for enhanced grip and durability
  • Reinforced Kevlar palm stitching for extended wear and durability
  • Reflective accents and hi-vis color scheme for optimal hand visibility
  • Contoured neoprene cuff with reflective pull-on tab resists snagging and provides a secure, easy fit

COMMON APPLICATIONS

Each year, more than 1,000,000 U.S. workers receive treatement in emergency departments for acute hand injuries. In fact, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that approximately 110,000 workers with hand and finger injuries lose days away from work annually - second only to back strain and sprain.

A recent study co-sponsored by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, revealed the most common occupational acute hand injury was a laceration (63 percent), followed by crush injury (13 percent), avulsion (8 percent), puncture (6 percent), fracture (5 percent), contusion (1 percent) and dislocation (0.1 percent). Further, the results indicate that glove use significantly reduced hand injury risk by 60 percent.

The ProFlex® 925F(x) was designed for the most extreme applications, including oil/gas drilling, extraction and refining, tool pushing, fracting, mining, demolition, heavy construction, ironwork, and barrel or drum handling. In short, just about any job that pushes hands to the limit and exposes them to banging, bashing and abrasion. High-tech materials like non-slip Armortex® offer superior durability and multiple reflective materials provide optimal hand visibility for safety and compliance.
