As most of us can attest to from personal experience, today’s drivers are more distracted than a bull at a red carpet event. That inattention puts not only themselves and other drivers at risk, but road construction workers as well.

This year’s Work Zone Awareness Week is April 11-15 and it couldn’t come at a better time. A new study out claims that drivers are distracted more than half the time they are behind the wheel, doubling their risk of a car crash. So this is undoubtedly an important week to encourage safe driving through work zones.

While awareness is critical, workers unfortunately have no control over whether drivers decide to take their eyes off the road. As a result, workzone accidents are still all too common. In 2013, a staggering 67,523 crashes occurred in U.S. workzones. That’s roughly 185 a day!

Recently, ANSI/ISEA issued its revised standard for hi-visibility safety apparel and accessories. The updated 107-2015 Standard provides guidelines that help improve worker visibility and safety. Wearing hi-vis apparel is smart, safe, and becoming mandatory in more places.

As an industry leader in hi-vis safety apparel, we’ve created some resources to help you better understand this revision and its implications, including …

  • A white paper that explains how the revised guidelines of the ANSI/ISEA 107-2015 Standard helps improve worker visibility on roadways and other jobsites.
  • A tech bulletin that provides an in-depth analysis of what changed in the ANSI/ISEA 107-2015 Standard revision.
  • A video that explains how we redesigned our GloWear® Hi-Vis Apparel Line to provide better utility with the same strong visibility.

Download and digest these resources to learn why roadway work zones are the best places to stick out like a sore thumb.
