  • Datacomm Technician
  • I install low voltage electronics systems in hospitals. Some new construction, some remodel.
  • Pulling cable by hand, feeding cable through plenum areas with fish poles, anchoring cable in a safe path where it won’t be damaged, cutting in low voltage rings for devices, feeding cable down flex whips, stripping and terminating Cat cable, installing individual devices, etc.

  • 1.5 years

  • Not cutting my hands to pieces on those dang metal studs. Working on a ladder for hours at a time.

  • Running my first job for Audio Acoustics and pulling the entire backbone cable for a 40 room hospital unit in 3 days.

  • Gloves! Trying to maneuver cable through tight areas with a lot of exposed metal framing is hazardous to the hands.

  • Take care of my self and my physical body so I can maintain a steady work pace throughout my career.
