Karen Vanderbosch
Senior VP & CFO
A native Minnesotan, I grew up about 45 miles west of Minneapolis in Waconia (when it was just a small town with a population around 2,000.) I am the middle of three girls—always striving to out-perform my overachieving older sister and seeking some of the attention my younger baby sister received. This combination made me a fierce competitor, but also a negotiator and peacemaker.
I was raised on Lake Waconia, so I love to be outdoors. I find being on the many lakes of Minnesota peaceful and a time to reflect. Tennis was—and still is—my favorite sport (Chris Evert was my childhood idol).
I’m a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management (go Gophers!). I considered becoming an engineer (like my older sister, of course) or a math teacher before selecting my career path in accounting. I am a long-suffering fan of ‘Sota sports teams in general, but I remain loyal nonetheless year after year after year…
My family means the world to me. My husband and I have five kids. The teenage years were absolutely crazy, but we survived somehow with the help of carpools, family and friends. I must admit that I miss attending the many sports games and activities from their younger days, but enjoy having free time on the weekends now.
We spend a lot of year-round family time at our cabin on Leech Lake and enjoy boating, fishing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Our cabin days usually end with bonfires and board games—especially our current favorite, Settlers of Catan.
I was CFO at a variety of companies in the Twin Cities before landing on the Orange Planet in early 2017. This is truly a unique place. I love the interaction and collaboration, and my fellow Ergodytes have been very welcoming. The on-boarding process, and the product and industry training are the best I’ve ever seen. I enjoy coming to work every day and being part of the tradition of strong leadership we have here at Ergodyne.
