SKULLERZ HARD HAT & SAFETY HELMET SERIES
THE NEXT GENERATION OF HEAD PROTECTION

We’ve come a long way from your great grandfather’s shellacked duck canvas. Skullerz hard hats and safety helmets are highly engineered + rigorously tested to bring workers into a new age of comfort, protection and customization.
COMFORT-DRIVEN FEATURES

WORD ON THE WORKSITE

MIPS ELEVATE
The biggest advancement in head protection since the hard hat itself.
Over 18,000 workers suffered traumatic brain injuries in 2019*. While current hard hats and safety helmets are designed to protect against direct linear impacts, workers are still at risk of brain tears resulting from equally dangerous and common angled impacts.
Mips helps reduce traumatic brain injuries by decreasing the rotational forces caused by angled impacts to the head.
ROTATIONAL FORCES
Caused by angled impacts leading to jarring and tearing of the brain
TRADITIONAL HARD HATS
Designed and tested for direct impacts only

Frequently Asked Questions
Traditional hard hats are engineered primarily to protect against linear (direct, straight-down) impacts. However, most real-world jobsite falls and impacts happen at an angle, generating dangerous rotational forces. The integrated Mips® (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) safety system features a low-friction layer designed to slide 10 to 15mm upon an angled impact. This sliding action redirects harmful rotational energy away from your brain, significantly reducing the risk of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) like concussions.
The primary difference lies in the direction of protection. Type 1 head protection is designed strictly to safeguard the top of the head from falling objects (like a dropped bolt or brick). Type 2 safety helmets (like the Skullerz 8963/8964 series) feature an interior EPS foam halo that expands protection to shield the top, front, back, and sides of the head. Type 2 helmets are highly recommended for workers at heights, arborist/forestry operations, and tight spaces where slips, trips, or lateral impacts are likely.
Traditional suspension systems require constant manual readjustment and often pinch the head. Ergodyne's LockFit™ system features a one-handed adjustment knob providing up to 36 points of micro-adjustment for a perfectly dialed, custom fit. Furthermore, the rear ratchet mechanism is designed to pivot up or down, allowing it to securely cradle the occipital bone at the base of the skull while easily clearing bandana knots or ponytails.
This comes down to electrical safety. Class C (Conductive) helmets are vented with adjustable sliders to maximize airflow and keep workers cool in the heat, but they offer zero electrical protection. Class E (Electrical) helmets are non-vented and strictly engineered to protect against high-voltage electrical hazards (tested up to 20,000 volts). If your jobsite features live electrical risks, a Class E helmet is required; if heat stress is your main hazard, a vented Class C helmet is ideal.
No. One of the biggest complaints from workers is having to fuss with slipping elastic straps or messy adhesive tape to mount accessories. Skullerz hard hats and safety helmets feature patent-pending, integrated front and rear accessory slots. These allow you to seamlessly snap Skullerz LED headlamps, face shields, or the Hard Hat Mounted Fan Kit directly into the shell for a secure, low-profile fit that won't dislodge on impact.
