The Skullerz 8964-MIPS Type 2 Full Brim Safety Helmet is a Class C Safety Helmet with integrated Mips® technology designed to increase worker head protection by helping reduce the effect of dangerous angled impacts. The Mips Evolve Pro safety system is a low-friction layer that slides multi-directionally upon angled impact with the intention of reducing the transmission of rotational force to the head.

Like other Skullerz Safety Helmets, this Mips helmet provides heavy-duty yet lightweight and comfortable head protection to shield the front, back, top and sides of the head from falls, dropped objects or bumping into stationary objects. The compact helmet design increases all-over impact protection and improves visibility, and a chin strap and pad ensure the helmet remains secure to the wearer’s head upon impact or sudden movement.

A lightweight, minimal EPS foam halo inside the shell provides all-around impact protection. The removable COOLMAX® hard-hat sweatband and top pad are made from breathable, sweat-wicking, machine-washable materials for added comfort. The suspension ratchet pivots up and down to accommodate bandanas or ponytail knots, ensuring a more customizable, secure fit.

MIPS EVOLVE PRO SAFETY SYSTEM REDUCES COSTLY EFFECT OF ANGLED IMPACTS

Unlike traditional hard hats and safety helmets which are designed primarily to protect against direct impacts, this safety helmet features Mips technology for protection against angled impacts—a common form of impact that occurs upon falling or contact to the sides of the head.

How does Mips work?

Mips Evolve Pro is a low-friction layer designed to slide multi-directionally (10-15mm) upon certain angled impacts to help reduce rotational force to the head.

What is rotational motion and why is it harmful?

Because the brain has shear properties similar to water or gel, it it more sensitive to rotational motion than linear (direct) motion. When parts of the brain move relative to each other as a result of rotational force, the tissues can stretch—potentially leading to life-altering Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs).

ADDITIONAL IMPACT PROTECTION

The suspension and shell design of this helmet provides added side, front and back protection. The safety helmet meets standard Class C helmet requirements for ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014, Type 2, Class C standard.

CUSTOM, SECURE FIT

This safety helmet fits hat sizes 6.5 - 8 (21in – 25 in / 53cm – 63.5cm). The size of the height-adjustable 6-point suspension is easy to dial in using the one-handed LockFit™ ratchet system. Simply pull the rear knob out and twist to tighten or loosen the fit, and push knob in to securely lock in place. Built with weight distribution in mind, this safety helmet has a snug and balanced fit. An adjustable chin strap (included) secures the helmet to the head and ensures it does not dislodge if the worker falls or is impacted by another object.

ACCESSORIZE IT

One of the biggest challenges for workers is how to attach lights to a hard hat in a way that eliminates the need to adjust and fuss with accessories.
