Customer Ratings and Reviews
love this Eskimo hat.
...a really nice trapper hat!! Very warm but not bulky. The chin strap is an easy clip for wearing it up or down. The hat really fits nicely on my melon and works REALLY well with the Hot Rox balaclava, too.
Hat is machine washable which is nice. Faux fur on ear flaps is comfortable. The small ear hole flaps are not the easiest things to attach to the buttons. The ear hole flaps look dorky if they are not attached. So, I cut them off and took off the buttons. That way I don't have to mess with attaching them to the buttons. The ear hole flaps cover the ear holes, which are essentially button holes. What's the point? Your exposed face is going to get much colder or wetter than your ears will ever get.
The satin crown lining is attached to the outer shell in only two places so when the bill is snapped to the shell the inner lining is pulled out with the bill, exposing the white writing on the inner lining. I sewed the inner lining to the shell on the three longitudinal crown seams for about two inches closest to the edge that runs along the bill.
I wear a 7 3/8, which is a little loose on me. The L/XL is just about right for me. If you have a much larger head than mine, it may be a tight fit.
The buckle on the ear flaps is much easier than one where you have to tie the flaps together. The strap can be extended 4.5 inches from its shortest length.
Thanks for your review! This hat is in line with a traditional trapper hat, but based on your review, it sounds like you’re looking for a more beanie-style hat or balaclava. We’ve got both of these options as well! If you’re interested, we think our N-Ferno® 6821 Fleece Balaclava would be a good fit for you. As for the holes under the ear flaps – those are designed to allow the person to hear better and come standard in most traditional trapper hat designs.
